Ruggs of the Raiders will be charged with DUI resulting in death

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department confirmed that wide receiver Henry Ruggs of the Las Vegas Raiders will be charged with DUI resulting in death for his role in a deadly incident Tuesday morning.

According to the police report, Ruggs remained on the scene and "showed signs of impairment" before being taken to a local hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

At 3:39 a.m. local time, police attended to the crash. Ruggs' Chevrolet Corvette collided with the back of a Toyota Rav4, according to preliminary findings. A deceased victim was discovered in the latter vehicle by responding fire department members.

Following the accident, Ruggs' attorney, David Chesnoff, issued a statement.

"As of this writing, we are conducting our own inquiry on behalf of our client Henry Ruggs III and ask everyone to hold judgment until all the facts are obtained," Chesnoff stated.

On Tuesday, the Raiders addressed the situation as well.

The Raiders released a statement saying, "The Raiders are aware of an accident involving Henry Ruggs Ill that occurred this morning in Las Vegas." "The loss of life has left us devastated, and our hearts and prayers go out to the victim's family. We are gathering information and will not have any other comments at this time."

Ruggs was taken with the No. 12 overall choice in last year's draft by the Raiders.
